UPDATE: Our next meeting on Sunday November 4th

Our next meeting will be hosted by veteran NFPS member Jay Frost on Sunday November 4th from 11:00-3:00. We will be grilling and enjoying Jay's mostly native landscape. His address is 2119 Mahan Drive Tallahassee, FL. See you there!

UPDATE: Our next meeting on Saturday October 1st

Our next meeting will be hosted by NFPS member Luke Lasley on Saturday, October 1st @ 1:00 PM. (NO FSU football that day!). Luke has an extensive cold hardy palm collection and is one of the best in the area. Some notable specimens growing are Livistona Saribus 'green petiole form', Chamaedorea microspadix and radicalis, Silver bismarkia, and Sabal "lisa' specimens. The "lisa' is a rare mutant sabal species. There will be a garden tour, plant sale, and refreshments. Please RSVP by email so that we can get a head count and for detailed directions. The plant sale will include many types of palms and cycads, most everything will be available for sale as Luke is planning on leaving for a while to do some traveling! The plant list includes: Mule palms, Many rare forms of sabals including maritima, causiarum, minor 'louisiana', 'blackburiana', and 'lisa'. Everglaldes palms, Chamaedorea microspadix, radicalis including trunk forms, and hooperiana. Livistona saribus and Livistona decora. Butia Eriospatha and rare forms of Chamaerops from Italy, plus the Silver European fan palm in 7 gallon sizes. The Cycads include Dioon edule, taintungensis and others including hybrids. More common species such as Butia capitata, Queen Palms, European fan palms are available at discounted rates.

UPDATE: Spring Meeting & Plant Sale on May 21st

Our next meeting will be hosted by NFPS member David Kelley on May 21st @ 1:00 PM. David has an extensive cycad collection and is easily one of the best in the area. He's located at 455 Old Bethel Road in Crawfordville, FL. There will be a garden tour, plant sale, and cookout. Please RSVP by email so that we can get a head count and for detailed directions. UPDATE: Summer / Fall meeting on September 25th

Our summer/fall meeting will be hosted by fellow member Jimmy Martin on September 25th 2010 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Mark your calenders and plan to attend. It will consist of a garden tour, cookout, discussion of our future plans, and palm trading. Bring $5 to cover your food and drinks. See you there!

UPDATE: A few good palms

Here are a couple of nice Livistonas in Tallahassee, FL. As you can see, they weren't notably damaged by our record winter this year.

UPDATE: Summer meeting and new members

We are looking to announce a summer meeting in the coming days. It should be around mid-August. So, let me know if you have a preference for a date asap. Additionally, several new members have joined NFPS since our last meeting! Hopefully they can join us in our upcoming summer meeting.

UPDATE: Spring Meeting on March 20th

NFPS plans to meet at Maclay Gardens on March 20th. We can meet at the adjacent Fresh Market on Thomasville Road at 1:00 and ride to the park in groups. Afterwards, we can trade seeds/seedlings/palms and get a bite to eat nearby. Hope to see you there.

NEWS: The Once Quality Queen MIA in 2009


The Quality Inn Queen was chainsawed down earlier this year. We called the owner to find out why it was removed (It was not cold damaged at all when they removed it.) We received no callback and the front desk clerks were clueless about its existence. RIP.

NEWS: Fall Meeting PRA Date / Time
